2020 Wyndham Championship Picks - Betting Predictions For Sedgefield

The first major of the year is now behind us and as the PGA Tour moves cross-country to North Carolina, we're sharing our 2020 Wyndham Championship predictions!

Following a truly awesome week in San Francisco for the PGA Championship, things have quickly shifted back to the East Coast for the Wyndham, which will be held at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina from August 13th to 16th.

Since the PGA Tour restart two months ago, golf has been extremely popular among bettors at online sports betting sites in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and other states where wagering is legal. With golf playoffs and more major events quickly approaching, that shouldn't change anytime soon.

Without any more delay, let's get to our 2020 Wyndham Championship betting picks!

2020 Wyndham Championship Betting Tips - Golf Betting Strategy

The Wyndham Championship is routinely held in August at the Donald Ross-designed Sedgefield Golf Club, so there's not much new about this year's event. The difference this year is that the tournament is being held the week following a major, so the field won't be stacked like the one we just left at TPC Harding Park.

The course won't be quite as tough as what we saw for the PGA Championship, either. Here are some stats to consider when making 2020 Wyndham Championship picks:

  • Strokes Gained: Off The Tee
  • SG: Approach The Green
  • SG: Putting
  • Par 4 Efficiency (400-450 Yards)
  • Scrambling

Sedgefield measures just over 7,100 yards and plays at Par 70 for this event but the fairways are much wider and distance can be offset with some accuracy, although the bombers can still have their way out there.

Wyndham Championship 2020 Predictions - Golf Betting Picks

Wyndham OddsMake Wyndham Championship Picks!

Following an enormous event with nearly all of the world's best on the same course, this week's field doesn't have quite as many stars. With that said, we should still expect to see some low scores.

At last year's event, 30 players were -13 or better as J.T. Poston went 8-under on Sunday and -22 overall to capture the trophy by a stroke. After the challenge presented by Harding Park, we will definitely see Sedgefield yield quite a few birdies this week.

All things considered, the two most important stats here are approach and putting, as each of the past two winners excelled in these categories. Once you're ready to bet, consider the following 2020 Wyndham Championship predictions:

  • Patrick Reed To Win (+1600)

Patrick Reed won the WGC-Mexico Championship just before the shutdown and has played some decent golf coming out of it. He's got two top-10 finishes and is fresh off a final-round 67 at the PGA Championship to finish T-13th at the first major of the year.

Reed may not be the most well-liked player among the fans, but nobody can argue with results. There are few better when it comes to gaining strokes with the putter and he's also got an excellent tee-to-green game.

With fewer stars in the field, Reed is one to watch for when making Wyndham Championship predictions. Last year, he was T-13th here and ranked fifth in SG: Putting among all players in the field and he may still carry the good vibes of the 2013 win here.

Wyndham Championship 2020 Picks - Finishing Position Golf Betting

On the surface, less big-name players sound like it would make betting easier. But in fact, it really just means more research to find value with some lesser-known players.

One way to find that value is with finishing position wagers. The lines pay much less than outright winners, but your chances of actually finishing the weekend with some profits are drastically increased. These bets can provide a rooting interest that lasts four days, which outrights oftentimes don't do.

Think about some of the following golfers if betting on 2020 Wyndham Championship odds for finishing position:

    • Joaquin Niemann Top 20 (+300)

Niemann missed the cut at Harding Park but played decently on Friday before his exit and is now well-rested for this event, which he finished T-13th at last season after ranking in the top 10 in SG: Putting during the tournament.

The young Chilean is a top 10 approach player on tour this season and his best week since the restart came at the comparable RBC Heritage, where he finished T-5th.

Because the recent results haven't been there, we should see value on Niemann's odds, even for a finishing position wager such as top 20 if not an outright selection.

    • Sungjae Im Top 20 (+200)

Things haven't exactly gone Im's way since the restart. Sure, he still ranks fifth in the FedEx Cup standings but he's missed two of the last three cuts and that is unlike him. When he does make the weekend, he isn't making an impact, which also isn't normal for the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

But here's the deal. Im is just too good of a golfer to stay down for long. He's still made 18 of 22 cuts this season so in a field like this, we can expect to see him on the weekend. From there, it's about utilizing the strong off-the-tee game to set himself up for birdies at Sedgefield after finishing T-6th here last year.

    • Patrick Reed To Win To Win (+1600), Top 20 (+100)
    • Kevin Kisner To Win (+5000)
    • Joaquin Niemann Top 20 (+300)
    • Jordan Spieth Top 20 (+200)
    • Sungjae Im Top 20 (+200)

We will continue to add and update selections until players tee off on Thursday, so check back throughout the week once all of the 2020 Wyndham Championship betting odds are posted!
